Welcome to the Athens County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society webpage. If you are doing genealogy research that includes ancestors from Athens County, Ohio, we hope you find this site informative and helpful.

To make an appointment for visiting the library outside its usual business hours, please call (740) 592-2280 or click here to send an email request. If you would like assistance researching your family history and plan to visit the Levering Library on a Saturday, please call to make an appointment. We will schedule a genealogy volunteer to assist you.

The Athens County Genealogy Chapter meets on the 3rd Monday of every month except January and February. Meetings are held from 7:00 – 8:00 PM in the Levering Library at the Athens County Historical Society and Museum. All are welcome to join us.

Family Tree Maker CDs

Thanks to the generosity of the Edward Parrish Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century, located in Marietta, Ohio, the Levering Library is in possession of a computer and a nearly complete selection of the Family Tree Maker CDs.  These CDs contain thousands of family trees submitted by individuals, electronic copies of published genealogies, selected vital statistics from various states and much other information directed to the genealogist.

We have World Family Tree Volumes 1 thru 77 plus approximately 200 other Family Archive CDs
